    3. Pulse @ Neighbours
      9:00 pm – 2:00 am

Neighbours has been wisely catering to the 18+ set for decades and their Wednesday night par-tay has changed names a time or two but it’s current incarnation as PULSE, seems to be around for awhile with an army of Paradiscos on hand to entertain you including hosts Drew & Jessica Paradisco.

Needless to say, this crowd skews young…if you’re over 40 and hangin’ out here, people are gonna assume you’re looking for some nice, tender chicken.

Usually featuring beats by DJ Trent Von (Billboard DJ, C89.5 FM) and DJ Dirty Bit

Check out their Facebook page for invites and info on the week’s theme.

HeartBeat Productions presents: Pulse! 18 and over dance party every Wednesday at Neighbours! (with access to a 21+ Mezzanine Bar).

      Drag performances

      New Theme every week!

And, note to tourists/newbies: Neighbours has an OFFICIAL address on Broadway, but the ACTUAL entrance is in the alley…walk down the block to Pike Street, make a right, walk to the alley and make another right…walk past REALLY stinky garbage cans (also: peer into window of Beauty Academy to check out all the wigs) then up to the entrance.

    4. Robbie Turner’s Playground @ R Place
      9:00 pm – 7:00 am

Formerly known as ASS…Amateur Strip Show, this R Place Wednesday night tradition has recently been given an overhaul and Seattle’s ubiquitous hostess Robbie Turner, fresh from her LeFaux bondage, installed as Mistress of Ceremonies. Strip shows, Hot Bod Contests, Dating Games and “Fag Hag” Games will be played. (Note to R Place: the term “Fag Hag” is offensive to fag hags…)

DJ Flow will be on hand to keep the music pumping.

We’re guessing there will be some sort of drink special.

      No cover. 21+ w/ID.

      HAIRSPRAY  IN CONCERT

      “YOU CAN’T STOP THE BEAT!”

Music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan

Hairspray returns to Seattle in all its glorious, irreverent, John Waters-inspired wackiness! Ten years after making its pre-Broadway premiere in Seattle at The 5th Avenue Theatre, Seattle Men’s Chorus and The 5th collaborate on an exhilarating concert version of this Tony Award winner for Best Musical. Chorus members perform the ensemble roles, singing your favorite numbers including “Good Morning Baltimore,” “Welcome to the ‘60s,” and “You Can’t Stop the Beat.”

Hairspray will be directed by 5th Avenue Executive Producer and Artistic Director David Armstrong, with Musical Direction by Seattle Men’s Chorus Artistic Director Dennis Coleman.

The 5th Avenue Theatre is pleased to announce complete casting for Hairspray in Concert, featuring some of Seattle’s favorite musical theatre stars and the powerful voices of the 250-member Seattle Men’s Chorus.  Celebrating the 10th anniversary of Hairspray’s 2002 Broadway debut, this uniqueconcert event will play for six very special performances of glorious and irreverent John Waters-inspired wackiness (Friday-Sunday, June 20-23). In 2002, Hairspray was The 5th Avenue Theatre’s first world premiere musical to head for Broadway where it won the 2003 Tony Award for Best Musical and launched The 5th’s unprecedented track record for sending new works to New York. Now the smash hit musical comes home, as audiences have never seen it before.

The cast includes Kat Ramsburg and Eric Polani Jensen as Tracy and Edna Turnblad, along with Allen Fitzpatrick,Louis HobsonCynthia Jones, and a host of additional Seattle stars.  Also making a star turn is Jerick Hoffer as the evil Velma Von Tussle. Best known as his drag persona, Jinkx MonsoonHoffer is the winner of Season Five of RuPaul’s Drag Race and a critically acclaimed stage performer who was seen in The 5th’s production of RENT last season. Seattle Men’s Chorus’ acclaimed vocal ensemble Captain Smartypants collectively perform a host of featured roles.

“It’s been ten years since Hairspray took home eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical,” said 5th Avenue Executive Producer and Artistic Director David Armstrong.  “It is our great pleasure to bring this hit back to The 5th where it began, and to let Seattle’s outstanding musical theater talent sink their teeth into these roles.  We could not be more pleased to again partner with the Seattle Men’s Chorus to bring this fantastic music to life with a richness audiences have never seen.”

    6. Down n’ Dirty @ The Baltic Room
      9:00 pm – 1:00 am

It’s pretty straight (and frequently a wee bit douchy) the other six nights of the week, but The Baltic Room gets all light in the loafers on Thursdays…Sinfinite Productions broke the Thursday night weekly event curse with ElektroPOP! which had a good solid year of success as a weekly, but the Pop has been replaced by Down N’ Dirty with a new resident host, (the freed from LeFaux Bondage: Miss Robbie Turner) and DJ Bret Law. Expect the usual gay event night shenanigans: Drag host…performers…drink specials…naughty events like lube wrestling…ticket giveaways…themes…etc. Plus, there’s usually a photographer or SGS photo booth on hand.

Who’s it for? Skews a bit younger but a mixed crowd age wise with a smattering of giggling straights on hand.

Check out the Down N’ Dirty Facebook page for weekly themes and invites.

And, for fans of the old ElektroPop! it’s returning as a monthly event with RPDR star Morgan McMichaels jetting in as host. It’ll also be at Fred Wildlife Refuge.

SINFINITE EVENTS, producers of ElektroPOP! and hostess extraordinaire ROBBIE TURNER join forces to bring you a *NEW* Thursday night party FIT for a queen! Join us EVERY Thursday for a night of drinking, dancing, and dance floor debauchery!

Down n’ Dirty features music from DJ BRET LAW taking the helm of The Baltic Room’s NEW lighting, sound, and video system spinning a non-stop mix of all your favorite Top 40 & Pop dance floor anthems.

Performances each week from Robbie Turner along with special guests!

$6 DOUBLE WELL COCKTAILS all night long!

It was an institution for a thousand years, then petered away, but Neighbours’ 80s night, ROCK LOBSTER w/DJ Trent Von is back, yet again…and, while we ARE of the 80s and LOVE the music, we wonder how long the Lobster will continue? Let’s face it….the kids of the 80s are now in their 50s….Still, we wish it well. SOMEONE in town needs to be spinning ABC, The Thompson Twins, and Bananarama on a weekly basis.

No, The Capitol Club isn’t technically usually classified as a gay venue, but like 98% of the clerbs on Capitol Hill, it is very gay/queer friendly and it certainly isn’t adverse to hosting a sweet little gay dance/drag party like DJ Skiddle’s weekly CRISP. It’s a mellow little night in a charming little club…and, a refreshing break from bigger clubs full of noisier club kids. Join Skiddle and weekly guests for a little music, a little drag and a lot of cozy partying with all your BFF’s who aren’t annoying drunken, pass around party bottom twinks.

The former home of America’s Current Drag Super Star, JINKX MONSOON, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season Five, LeFaux still occasionally features Our Darling Jinkx…when she’s available. You’d best call ahead or check out their Facebook page to see if she’s performing. But, don’t count on it…she’s busy jetting all over the country. (And, ignore their website which kinda implies that Jinkx is still around a lot. She’s not.)

Personally, Drag Impersonation/Show Girl Drag isn’t OUR particular cup of tea, and judging by the relatively small number of lgbtq folks who go to LeFaux on a regular basis, and the relatively LARGE number of straight, suburban types, including bridal shower parties who DO go, it’s not really a huge queer destination. If drag performers who look like and lip sync to famous iconic celebrities is your bag, then go for it. The show does have high production values and some gorgy costumes (see Eladio? We can be nice!) and some very talented performers. We just prefer our drag a bit grittier and funkier.

Some advice: the VIP seats are REALLY uncomfortable and have shitty sight lines. You’re better off in the cheaper seats.  (We’re also honest…)

Club nights, and club promoters, and djs come and go, bouncing from club to club, but there seems to be a gathering of like minds being drawn to The Seattle Eagle as a bunch of the top DJs in town seem to be forming their own funkier than hell little collective of awesomeness and hipper than thou coolness in the Hill’s dirty little bastard step child of a gay club. Old timers will wipe away a tear with their color coded hanky at the thought of the Eagle becoming more of a club stud/house music friendly hangout and less of a dank hellhole only fit for random handjobs, but change is inevitable…and, if you can’t as easily get a handy on the catwalk, at least you’ll have a hell of a fun time with the music and the enthusiastically attractive array of hot men, arty queens and the occasional fun straight girl or two who seem drawn to these parties. The resident DJs take turns week to week and out of town guest DJs/performers are frequent. Note that Nark’s monthly DICKSLAP takes the spot on the third Friday of the month. But, regardless of the name of the event or the DJ Du Jour, the Eagle’s Friday nights tend to be a justly popular night of good dirty fun.

Every Sunday, the pulse of the city is filled with Latino flavor and rhythms at the most awaited event of the week: Latino Night at Neighbours Nightclub!

Our Latino Night started in 1991, when Latinos sought a welcoming space among their many entertainment options. They looked for a place where the music, language, and warmth of our lands would energize them for the week to come. At first, it was two hours with no more than 15 people dancing and speaking in Spanish. Many places had to try and fail to establish a Latino night before we found the one we have now. Latino Night at Neighbours! It gives Entre Hermanos the opportunity to share information on its programs and activities. From 10:00PM a 2:00AM, staff and volunteers from Entre Hermanos engage in community outreach and answer questions about sexuality, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS, and social service organizations, as well as distribute condoms and lubricant along with a message of prevention and education.
